PARIS – A total of eight opening matches of the 2023/2024 Champions League group phase were completed, Wednesday (20/9/2023) early morning WIB. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Manchester City and Barcelona took home three points from this first match.
PSG won 2-0 when they hosted Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes. The hosts’ two goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe (49′) and Achraf Hakimi (58′) respectively.
This victory made PSG occupy the top position in Group F with three points. In another match, Manchester City scored a goal against FK Crvena Zvezda with a score of 3-1.
Man City’s three goals were scored by Julian Alvarez (47′, 60′) and Rodri (73′). Meanwhile, the visiting team got a consolation goal through Osman Bukari’s action.
Man City extended their unbeaten record in the Champions League to 27 times. The Citizens are in third place on the list of four clubs with the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the competition while playing at home.
In another match, a goal feast also occurred when Barcelona bombarded Royal Antwerp’s goal with five goals without reply. The hosts’ five goals were scored by Joao Felix (11′, 66′), Robert Lewandowski (19′), and Jelle Bataillie (Og 22′).
