JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-24 national team managed to beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0 in the first match of Group F of the 2022 Asian Games. PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir hopes that the players will not be lulled by the euphoria of the victory.
Erick Thohir asked Indra Sjafri’s team to continue to focus on the next match in order to win tickets to the round of 16.
As previously reported, in the match against Kyrgyzstan at Zheijang University Stadium, Hangzhou, Tuesday (19/9/2023) evening, the Garuda squad was able to win convincingly. The two winning goals came from Ramai Rumakiek (57′) and Hugo Samir (90+2′).
Now, the Indonesian U-24 National Team is equal with North Korea at the top of Group F. Previously, North Korea managed to beat Taiwan with the same score.
Erick Thohir is very grateful that the Indonesian U-24 National Team has succeeded in continuing the positive trend. “Thank God, we are able to continue the positive trend of the national team. After the SEA Games, AFF U-23 Cup Qualification and AFC U-23,” said Erick in the official PSSI release, Tuesday (19/9/2023).
Previously, two groups of the Indonesian National Team achieved impressive results on FIFA Matchday and the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification. The two teams coached by Shin Tae-yong managed to achieve victory in their respective events.
“Now at Asia’s main level, namely the Asian Games, victory can be achieved. We must continue to maintain this winning tradition,” hoped Erick Thohir.
Even so, Erick does not want the Indonesian U-24 National Team to be complacent with the victory over Kyrgyzstan. He hopes that the players will remain focused on the next match.
“We have to stay focused until the last match. Let’s win a ticket to the top 16! Playing against anyone, the way we play, both from a technical and mental perspective, must be the same,” said Erick.
“Today, Kyrgyzstan, tomorrow, Taiwan and North Korea, we must appear to win,” he continued.
