BOLOGNA – MotoGP racer Marc Marquez will reportedly leave the Repsol Honda team. This rumor was immediately welcomed by a number of other MotoGP teams. In fact, Gresini Ducati is a team that is very serious about attracting him.
Mooney VR46 racer, Luca Marini, is excited about the potential move. As is known, Marquez’s future with Honda is still a question mark and it is widely heard that the Spaniard will leave when his contract ends or even sooner.
“We can only hope about that. That would be a fantastic thing. Having a racer of that level with an existing motorbike (on Ducati) would be extraordinary,” said Marini as reported by Crash, Monday (18/9/2023).
“That way, I can compare the data and myself with the same conditions as Marquez,” he continued.
Marini saw that Marquez was still a racer with extraordinary abilities. According to him, the presence of former rival Valentino Rossi in the Ducati team will help the team well.
“It’s very clear he still has good abilities. However, we don’t know whether he will still stay at Honda or not,” said Marini.
“If you ask me, I would not leave the 12 million euro salary he currently earns,” he concluded.
