Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin is determined to get up and perform better at the 2022 Asian Games. He conveyed this after Indonesian men’s doubles won runners up in the Hong Kong Open 2023 by being defeated by im Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, 10-21, 24-22 and 19-21, Sunday (17/9/2023).
Leo/Daniel also admitted that there was still a lot to improve on their performance in the final of the Super 500 tournament. They are determined to perform even better at the nearest event, namely the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, at the end of September.
“Actually, we and our opponents both die alone a lot, but we have more unforced errors. We have to improve ourselves, what is lacking, what is still wrong on the field must be corrected immediately,” said Leo, quoted from a PBSI release, Monday (18/ 9/2023).
“There are Asian Games coming up soon, hopefully we can be even better,” he added.
This defeat also meant that the world number 11 pair failed to win their third title this year. Previously, they had won consecutive titles at the Indonesia Masters 2023 and Thailand Masters 2023.
Meanwhile for Astrup/Rasmussen, the first podium at the Hong Kong Open 2023 will be their second title this year. The pair ranked ninth in the world previously won the 2023 Canada Open. They are currently on the rise, having just finished runners up at the 2023 World Championship at the end of August.
