JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-17 national team is known to be in Group A in the group stage of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Indonesia will be in the same group as Ecuador, Panama and Morocco.
Based on the results of the group drawing held in Zurich, Switzerland, Friday (15/9/2023) evening WIB, football observer M. Kusnaeni alias Bung Kus is optimistic that the team made by Bima Sakti has the opportunity to win the group.
On paper, the lottery results are quite light. The reason is, Garuda Asia can avoid meetings with giant teams such as Argentina, Germany and England.
In the opening match, Friday, November 10 2023, Indonesia will face Ecuador at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium. At the same stadium, Morocco will first meet Panama.
Bung Kus believes that the results of the first match against Ecuador will determine the fate of the Red-White Team in the following matches. He is confident that if he can beat the South American representative, Muhammad Iqbal Gwijangge et al, it will be easier to have the next 2 matches. In fact, it is not impossible to come out as winner of Group A.
“The key is when facing Ecuador as the first opponent. If this can be overcome then the chances of qualifying for the next round will be greater. The point is, don’t be afraid to play, don’t even be afraid to win the group,” said Kusnaeni in an official statement received by iNews Media Group, Saturday (16/9/2023).
Indonesian football legend, Bambang Pamungkas, also gave a message to the Indonesian U-17 National Team players. He wants the players to appear with high motivation to give their best performance because the opportunity to appear in the U-17 World Cup is very rare.
“This is a tournament that will not come twice for young players. So you have to enjoy it, bring out your best abilities, and you have to be motivated to be the best,” said the football legend who is usually called Bepe.
