JAKARTA – The coach of the Indonesian U-17 national team, Bima Sakti, is very confident that he can bring the team he manages to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. He also asked his squad not to be afraid of facing the opponents they face.
The results of the 2023 U-17 World Cup group stage drawing which took place in Zurich, Switzerland, are now known. Indonesia, which acts as host, is in Group A with Ecuador, Morocco and Panama.
The team nicknamed Garuda Asia is said to have avoided the hellish group in the draw. The reason is, Indonesia is protected from strong countries such as England, Germany, Argentina, South Korea and Poland.
Responding to the lottery results, Bima Sakti was optimistic. He revealed that the U-17 national team would look for opponents with a similar playing style to their opponents as well as finalize the team during their training camp (TC) in Germany.
“We are optimistic that we can qualify for the next round. Next in Germany we will look for opponents similar to Panama, Ecuador and Morocco,” said Bima Sakti in a PSSI release, Saturday (16/9/2023).

“In Germany, the national team will forge itself. There will be another selection involving players from the diaspora. The U-17 national team is in progress. Thank you for the support from PSSI, which provides the best facilities so that we can be ready to fight for the U-17 World Cup,” he said.
Nevertheless, Bima Sakti admitted that there were no weak teams in Group A. However, he emphasized to Iqbal Gwijangge et al not to be afraid to face their opponents regardless of the debut of the Indonesian U-17 National Team at the U-17 World Cup.
