JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-17 national team is certain to be home at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, when they face their Group A preliminary duels for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. The Garuda Muda team will have their first match against Ecuador.
The match between the two teams will take place on Friday (10/11/2023) with a kick-off time of 19.00 WIB. In the next duel, Bima Sakti’s team will meet Panama Monday (11/13/2023).
The final match, determining fate against Morocco, will be held on Thursday (16/11/2023). For the sake of fair play, another match between Ecuador and Panama will be held at the Manahan Stadium, Solo.
“We will look at the matches one by one. The drawing results on the one hand provide an opportunity for Indonesia to be able to talk further. The key is preparation in Germany. I am sure we will get maximum results in Germany by testing against teams from Latin America and Africa,” said PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir.
If you win the group, Iqbal Gwijangge cs. will return to compete in the City of Heroes. Meanwhile, if they are runners-up or third best, the Red-White Team will compete in Solo.
If you look at the match schedule for the 2023 U-17 World Cup, the U-23 Indonesian National Team has a short rest period throughout the preliminaries, only two days. The duo of Bima Sakti and Frank Wormuth have homework to do to maintain the stability of the stamina of the U-17 national team players, considering that the three duels they will play will definitely take place with high intensity.
If you refer to the lottery results, the U-23 Indonesian National Team could be said to be lucky to avoid groups with hellish status. Our country does not have to meet early with the world’s elite countries.
However, the U-17 National Team must not be too self-confident. The opponents they face have good track records in their respective confederation level competitions.
Ekuador (runner-up CONMEBOL U-17, Panama (semifinalist CONCACAF U-17), Marocco (runner-up CAFA U-17).
