Suara.com – Indonesian women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti said that thorough preparation helped them secure tickets to the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open 2023 in Kowloon, Friday.
While competing at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Apri/Fadia had prepared a strategy to face the Chinese women’s doubles Li Wen Wei/Liu Xuan Xuan, which ended in straight games winning 21-15, 21-13.

“We have again prepared what kind of game they want to play against. We were caught up in the first points, but after the first game interval we tried to be tighter, more compact. In the end we were able to beat them from start to finish,” said Fadia via PP PBSI’s official message in Newsdelivers.com.
Fadia explained that she had often met the Li/Liu couple. Moreover, it could be said that they are women’s doubles from the same class, so they often meet in a number of tournaments.

From previous meetings, Apri/Fadia also learned a lot about their opponents’ playing styles before finally meeting on Field 2 of the Hong Kong Coliseum.
“The Chinese couple are in the same year as me, so I’ve met them a lot since the past. The type of game hasn’t changed much so we prepare more with our hearts. How about we have to play calmly because they want to play fast all the time and we have to control it,” said Fadia.
Thorough preparation does not only come from technical and strategic factors, but also mental and support from the officials.
“Apart from our mindset, we maintain our condition by eating and sleeping enough. PBSI has also prepared physiotherapists and masseurs who are ready to help us speed up recovery,” added Apri.
Next, in the semifinal round, Saturday (16/9/2023), Apri/Fadia will meet the pair Sara Thygesen/Maiken Fruergaard from Denmark. Their match will be the first meeting for the two pairs.
