JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-17 national team will feel challenged to be in pot one in the U-17 World Cup draw. This was stated by the General Chair of PSSI, Erick Thohir.
Being in pot one means that the U-17 Indonesian National Team is included in the top teams based on previous achievements in that event. As is known, Garuda Asia entered pot 1 because of its privileges as host.
The draw for the U-17 World Cup group itself will be held in Zurich, Switzerland, on Friday (15/9/2023) evening at 21.00 WIB.
According to Erick Thohir, this privilege must be accepted by the U-17 Indonesian National Team wisely. The reason is, these provisions are based on regulations that have been set by FIFA.
“What is certain is that there will be challenges when Indonesia enters Pot 1 as the top team. But what can I say, that’s a privilege as the host,” said Erick in his official statement in Jakarta, Thursday (14/9/2023).
Erick Thohir added that reflecting on this, his party prepared the Bima Sakti team as well as possible. The goal is for the U-17 Indonesian National Team to be ready to compete in the U-17 World Cup.
“Long ago, we at PSSI have prepared so that the Garuda National Team really deserves to be in a superior position,” he said.
Furthermore, Erick Thohir said that various preparations had been prepared quite thoroughly. PSSI also hopes that this can have a positive impact.
