MANCHESTER – Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, is facing harsh criticism for his unconvincing performance in the club’s squad. However, Maguire still feels worthy of competing at Manchester United and is ready to fight hard to get the main place.
Until now, Harry Maguire has not been coach Erik ten Hag’s main choice. He has only appeared in one match this season, with only 23 minutes played.

Erik ten Hag is more likely to choose to play Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the defense of the Red Devils, nicknamed Manchester United. Maguire was linked with rumors of a move to West Ham United, but in the end there was no agreement until the summer transfer window ended.
In facing this uncertainty, Harry Maguire believes that he still has the capability to appear at Manchester United. He was determined to take advantage of every opportunity given.
“I realize that at this time, when I have not started the first four matches of the season, various stories may arise. Therefore, when I am selected, I have to perform optimally,” said Maguire as quoted by the Mirror, Thursday (14/ 9/2023).
“In the world of football, I want to play. The first four weeks were quite difficult because there was only one game a week and the manager didn’t choose me, but we have a lot of games coming up and I’m sure I will have a lot of opportunities to play,” he added.
Apart from being challenged by the coach’s decisions, Harry Maguire also often receives harsh criticism from supporters and football experts. Even though criticism often comes from his own team’s supporters, he remains committed to giving his best performance at every opportunity.
The same criticism continued when Maguire played for the England National Team. In the last match when England beat Scotland (3-1), Wednesday (13/9/2023), Maguire even received insults from opposing fans.
