Shin Tae-yong is considered the hero behind the success of the Indonesian U-23 National Team in making history after qualifying for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. This is the first time the Garuda Muda Squad has qualified for an Asian level football tournament.
Indonesia’s positive result of qualifying for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup places Shin Tae-yong’s name as the first coach who was able to bring three different age groups, namely senior, U-23, U-20 to the Asian Cup finals.
This positive achievement has not only received recognition from football fans in the country. Vietnamese media also highlighted Shin Tae-yong’s journey with the Indonesian National Team.
Even the Vietnamese media did not hesitate to call Shin Tae-yong a hero who succeeded in making history for the Indonesian national team, especially in the 23 year age group. “Coach Shin Tae-yong became a hero, Indonesia U-23 scored an unprecedented milestone in the Asian tournament,” wrote Soha VN in his news headline, Wednesday (13/9/2023).
“This is also the first time in the history of Indonesian football to qualify for this tournament. In the 5 tournaments held previously, Indonesia U-23 failed to win the right to take part in the final round,” added Soha VN in his news report.
For your information, the Indonesian U-23 National Team is one of five Southeast Asian teams, including Australia, that have qualified for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. The other four teams are Malaysia U-23, Australia U-23, Thailand U-23, and Vietnam U-23.
Meanwhile, the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup tournament itself will take place in Qatar on April 15-May 3 2024. It is hoped that the U-23 Indonesian National Team can continue to develop and achieve the best results in the tournament.
