President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the victory of the Indonesian U-23 National Team was history. Jokowi said this because since 2012 until now Indonesia has never won against Turkmenistan with a score of 2-0.
“I saw the match was very hard and attacking each other, and the result was 2-0 for the Indonesian U-23 National Team,” said Jokowi, after watching live the U-23 National Team against Turkmenistan with a score of 2-0 for Indonesia, at the Manahan Stadium in Solo, Java. Central, quoted by Antara, Tuesday (12/9/2023).
“This is history because I was told earlier that since 2012 until now we have never won against Turkmenistan,” he continued.
Jokowi was grateful that with Indonesia’s 2-0 victory over Turkmenistan, Indonesia could compete in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup which was held in Qatar.

The former Governor of DKI Newsdelivers.com also hopes that the U23 National Team can prepare optimally to face the 2024 Asian Cup finals in Qatar.
“It’s still a bit long, right? In April, yes. So the preparations will be longer, I think we will go there in a much better prepared condition. I think everyone will play well,” said Jokowi.
“I think everyone is playing well. The team still has a long way to go until 2024, so they have to maintain their cooperation. The team is getting better and there are no mistakes in passing,” said Jokowi.
Apart from that, the former Governor of DKI Newsdelivers.com said that all lines, both front and back, were all good and their cooperation had understood each other and everyone was playing well and the prediction was to win.
Meanwhile, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said he should be proud and happy, and this is the history of Indonesia entering the AFC U-23 championship in Qatar.

“This is our history since 2012, we have never won, but we still have many shortcomings,” said Erick.
The Indonesian national team in midfield is Marselino and Ivar Jenner. When the team rotates, it looks like Indonesia has to look for replacement players.
However, said Erick, don’t be complacent. Don’t let this victory be euphoric, Erick continued, but how can this victory continue to build on the development of the U-17, U-20 and U-23 national teams.
There is a lot to see about this player entering the senior team. This is what PSSI feels is a note to prepare players.
“We are preparing at least 150 players for senior players, U-23, U-20 and U-17, but it is not easy. However, I note that I am grateful. I am sure that the local competition has built its name as a pro-academy elite,” said Erick.
“There is no compulsion for Indonesian players abroad and everyone wants to defend the red and white, including those in Indonesia,” he continued.
