Beware of the Impact on Car Components. PHOTO/DAILY
JAKARTA – The hot weather continues in the capital city. According to information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), based on observation data, the maximum air temperature at the Curug Meteorological Station reached 35.8 degrees, followed by 34.4 degrees for the Kemayoran area and 33.4 degrees for the Soekarno Hatta area.
Meanwhile, based on AWS Jabodetabek data, the highest air temperature was recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius at UI Depok. Car owners need to be wary of continuous hot conditions. The reason is that several car components are affected by extreme hot weather.
The following are some of the impacts of hot weather on car components, quoted from the Repair Smith website, Wednesday (13/9/2023). Let’s look at what?
1. Aki
It turns out that extreme hot weather can cause a reduction in the life of a car battery. Hot weather can cause the liquid electrolyte solution in the battery to evaporate.
This can expose the lead plates and cause internal corrosion, limiting the battery’s ability to hold a charge and decreasing the ability to produce enough power to start the engine. The increasing power requirements from AC and vehicle cooling systems also cause the battery to continue to be drained.
2. Ban Mobile
As temperatures rise, the roads become hotter. This makes car owners need to check tire pressure more regularly.
Excessive heat and subsequent increases in tire pressure can cause tires to become over-inflated. This excess air pressure can damage the shape of the tire, thereby reducing the amount of tread in contact with the road. It will also cause excessive wear along the center of the tire, and in extreme temperatures, the rubber can be destroyed.
