Ariyanto used to be a driver. However, in 2011, he had a tragic accident and he lost both legs because they had to be amputated.
After this incident, Ariyanto was only at home for four years without doing any activities until he lost his self-confidence. But he finally got up.
Ariyanto turns his weaknesses into strengths by continuing to learn and try. He tried his luck as a Jepara wood craft carver and as a plastic waste sandal craftsman.
Then, on the way, Ariyanto was embraced by the disability community in Jepara. Then, he signed up for lawn balls training.
Lawn balls is a sport of throwing a ball up to 40 meters towards a point ball. In fact, this sport is similar to bowling, but the difference is that the athlete throws a ball called wood, which has a bias or bias so that it can roll in a curved direction.
At first, Ariyanto had quite a hard time playing lawn balls. Over time, through the training he participated in, he became more skilled and now has the opportunity to defend Indonesia at the 2018 Asian Para Games.
“Oh, at first it was difficult, sir, it was like throwing, power, finding the angle, it was still a mess. Currently, Ariyanto is attending a training camp for the sport of lawn balls in Solo, Central Java. He joined his colleagues at national training to prepare to appear at the 2023 Asian Paragames.
Even though he had to leave his family in Jepara, Central Java, this 45 year old man was very enthusiastic about attending his training camp. He is determined to present the best achievements for Indonesia.
