KOWLOON – Putri Kusuma Wardani, Indonesian women’s singles athlete, will soon face India’s top player, Pusarla V. Sindhu, in the first round of the Hong Kong Open 2023. Putri KW has made thorough preparations ahead of the match against the player who is ranked 14th in the world.
The 2023 Hong Kong Open is scheduled to take place at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Kowloon, Hong Kong, from 12 to 17 September. The Indonesian badminton team has tried out the arena as part of their preparations for this tournament.
In the women’s singles sector, Putri KW was faced with a tough challenge when she faced Pusarla Sindhu, who is currently ranked 14th in the world. In approaching the meeting, Putri KW had one main goal, namely to give her best performance. In his training sessions, the 21 year old player focuses on adapting to the court and perfecting his shots.
“I want to give my best performance and game against Sindhu, as I showed in the last two matches,” said Putri KW in an official PBSI statement, Monday (11/9/2023).
Meanwhile, Indonesia has sent 18 representatives to compete in this event, but only 17 representatives were able to participate because Shesar Hiren Rhustavito had to withdraw due to an injury he suffered after competing in the 2023 China Open. Among those who participated were athletes such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and doubles pairs such as Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
