The hadith tells about a man who came to the Prophet SAW. Then said, “O Messenger of Allah, which charity has the greatest reward?”.
He said: “That is, if you give charity, you are still healthy and in fact you are miserly. You are afraid of becoming poor and you really hope to become rich. But do not delay until your life has reached your throat and say, ‘This is for so-and-so. and this one is for so-and-so,’ even though that one is indeed for so-and-so.” (HR Muttafaq’alaih)
In Syarah Riyadhus Shalihin Volume 1, Imam an-Nawawi interprets the hadith above that the condition of charity in a healthy state is the form of charity with the greatest reward. Furthermore, according to him, the miserly nature of a person is most visible when he is healthy.
“If he is generous and gives alms, in a healthy state, then that proves the sincerity of his heart and his great love for Allah SWT,” explained Imam an-Nawawi.
However, this situation is different from the condition of people who are at the end of death or are sick. So in this condition, what is it like for someone to see their wealth again?
