Suara.com – A fire broke out at the west pier of the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port, Muara Baru, North Newsdelivers.com on Monday (4/9/2023) evening. Ten ships were reported to have caught fire and several of them are thought to have sunk.
“Only seven of the carcasses were visible, I don’t know about three of them, they said some had drowned,” said Muara Baru Police Chief AKP Achmad Haris Sanjaya to reporters, Tuesday (5/9/2023).
Haris confirmed that there were no casualties in this incident. According to him, some of the victims only suffered minor injuries.
“Only injuries, only minor injuries,” he said.

Until now the exact cause of the fire is not known. According to Haris, his party together with the National Police’s Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) are still investigating it.
Haris continued, one of the in-depth investigations was carried out by examining witnesses around the location. Apart from that, the plan is to also investigate the crime scene or TKP this afternoon.
“So I can’t conclude why the fire happened,” he concluded.
