JAKARTA – After the match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung in the 2023/2024 League 1 continuation, PSSI is encouraging peaceful reconciliation between the supporters of the two clubs at the grassroots. Member of the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco), Arya Sinulingga, said that his party had communicated with Persija, Jakmania supporters and Persib, Viking and Bomber supporters to hold a reconciliation.
The match entitled the Indonesian Derby between Persija and Persib which took place at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, Saturday (2/9/2023) was marked by an inappropriate incident. It happened that Jakmania elements attacked two lovebirds who were believed to be Bobotoh – a Persib supporter -.
Fortunately, the couple was immediately secured by a group of mentally mature Jakmania. It didn’t stop there, after the match, a number of Jakmania individuals were involved in rioting incidents.
Then it was reported that one young man was the target of the mob’s rampage. A young man was then also successfully arrested by the Jakmania regional coordinator.
It is not known whether the young man is Bobotoh or not. Apart from that, Arya Sinulingga immediately coordinated with Jakmania and Viking to immediately carry out peaceful reconciliation at the grassroots.
“So since this morning, we have been coordinating with our Viking friends Persib, Bomber and Jakmania, we have coordinated, we have asked for a meeting and reconciliation to be held as soon as possible at the grassroots level,” said Arya in his statement, Sunday (3/8/2023 ).
“Especially in the Korwil border area between friends in Persib and Persija, this step was taken so that it doesn’t happen later, so that there is reconciliation and it doesn’t spread in the future, and there are no more grudges,” he continued later.
“This is what we are trying to reconcile at the lower level, by encouraging Viking friends, Bombers and friends from Persija, Jakmania,” said the man with glasses.
Arya believes that the problem of excessive rivalry between supporters often occurs at the grassroots. Meanwhile, at the elite level, excessive rivalry is considered outdated.
Arya gave an example when the General Chair of Jakmania, Diky Soemarno and the Chair of the Viking Persib Club (VPC), Tobias Ginanjar did live Instagram ahead of the match. Even though at the elite level there had been peace, some Jakmania elements actually carried out sweeping Bobotoh on match day.
“Because we believe our friends in the elite supporters, they are okay, even last night, before the match, Diky (Soemarno) and Tobi did an IG live together,” said Arya.
“But it turns out that something like yesterday happened below, so I have encouraged them to hold meetings, not just meetings at the top, down to the grassroots level below,” he said.
