BEKASI – Persija Jakarta had to settle for a 1-1 draw against eternal rivals Persib Bandung at the Patriot Stadium, Bekasi, Saturday (2/9/2023) afternoon WIB. The Kemayoran Tigers’ victory was shattered after Persib equalized the score through David Silva’s goal at the end of the match.
The match started with both teams, Persija and Persib, playing with high intensity from the start of the first half. In the 3rd minute, Persija almost scored a goal, however, they failed to take advantage of the opportunity in front of Persib’s goal.
In the 14th minute, Persija managed to open the score through a goal scored by Marko Simic after taking advantage of a corner kick executed by Ryo Matsumura.
After falling behind, Persib tried to put more pressure on Persija’s defense and look for an equalizing goal. In the 25th minute, Persib almost scored a goal, but Persija goalkeeper, Rizky Ridho, made an important save.
Until the end of the first half, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Persija, even though both teams created golden opportunities in front of the opponent’s goal.
At the start of the second half, Persib Bandung dominated the game and continued to press Persija’s defense in an effort to find an equalizing goal.
However, Persija began to rise and put pressure on Persib. In the 74th minute, Persija had to play with ten players after Hanif Sjahbandi received a red card due to an incident with a Persib player.
Persib Bandung finally managed to score an equalizer in the 85th minute through a goal scored by David Silva after using a pass from his teammate.
