JAKARTA – Ancient relics are an attraction for a historical tourist attraction in Lampung. One of the interesting things is the Megalithic Pool.
The Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Park in Sekampung Udik, East Lampung Regency does have a number of interesting ancient collections.
Quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), the Megalithic Pool is a group of prehistoric relics.
Its shape resembles a large stone with holes. Lantaran used to be one of the sources of springs that filled the hollow rocks. Then a pond is formed naturally.
It is said that in the past, this pond was a place where ancestors carried out gathering activities, sharpening weapons and other activities. Not only that, there are many other historical stories that can be explored.
Visitors can feel the sensation of water in this Megalithic Pool by soaking or just playing around. Apart from that, the feet can also be soaked in this pool which is said to be a therapy to help prevent or eliminate disease.
Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Park is an ancient site found in Lampung. This place is also a witness to human civilization in Indonesia, so its preservation is very worthy and worth preserving.
This site was discovered in 1957 by transmigrants while logging the forest. Several loggers, namely Barno Raharjo, Sardi, Karjo and Sawal reported the findings to the Antiquities Service.
When viewed in terms of chronology, artifacts and features, the Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Park site is very unique, interesting and varied. The chronology of the relics at this site is very complete, starting from prehistoric, classical (Hindu – Buddhist) times, to the Islamic period.
Artifacts found at this site include foreign ceramics from various dynasties, local ceramics, beads, dolmens, menhirs, knives, spearheads, hollow stones, whetstones, pipisan stones, stone axes, punden trap stones, bronze bracelets, and scratched stones.
