Suara.com – DPR RI Commission VIII approved an increase in the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) budget of IDR 2.1 trillion in 2024. This means that the Ministry of Social Affairs’ budget in 2024 is IDR 80.1 trillion. This budget increase includes channel costs, additional RST for 9,100 houses, honorarium for PKH companions for 3 months, additional 20,000 KPM PENA, health insurance for social companions, additional YAPI budget, and food. The approval for an increase in the Ministry of Social Affairs budget in 2024 is based on various efforts to eradicate poverty and social problems that have been carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs so far.
Member of Commission VIII from the Democratic Party Fraction, Achmad said, one of the performance indicators which is an important point for legislators is the achievement of an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the BPK on the 2022 Financial Report of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Moreover, the BPK’s opinion mentions the responsiveness of the Ministry of Social Affairs in handling public complaints.
“This is an extraordinary achievement, it is not the WTP that we are proud of. But mother’s response was very fast. Commission VIII’s budget support for the Ministry of Social Affairs was stated in the conclusion of the DPR RI Commission VIII Working Meeting with the Minister of Social Affairs which was signed by the Deputy Chair of Commission VIII DPR RI Ace Hasan Syadzily, at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Thursday, (31/8/2023).
Furthermore, Commission VIII encouraged the Ministry of Social Affairs to increase the success of social assistance channels, increase the Integrated Prosperous House (RST) program, the Indonesian Economic Heroes (PENA) program because it is very beneficial for the wider community. Apart from that, the Ministry of Social Affairs was asked to continue the assistance program for orphaned children (YAPI), paying attention to the welfare of social assistance workers such as PKH assistants, Social Rehabilitation assistants and Tagana.

On the other hand, Commission VIII regrets the reduction in the Ministry of Social Affairs budget for 2024 to Rp. 79,198,826,945,000. There was a reduction of Rp. 220,598,950,000 compared to the 2023 budget ceiling of Rp. 79,419,425,895,000. Legislative members confirmed that the Ministry of Social’s programs have had a significant impact on beneficiaries.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini expressed his appreciation for the support of the people’s representatives. Risma hopes that this proposal can be accepted so that it can be implemented in 2024.
“Thank you, maybe hopefully in January we can go. “Hopefully we can get the shortage by 2024,” said Risma.
For information, on this occasion Risma also explained the performance achievements in 2023, with budget absorption of 64.36%.
