JALUR GAZA – The National High Commission for the Great March of Return and Breaking the Siege of Gaza agreed to continue demonstrations along the eastern Gaza area which is blockaded by Israel.
“We decided to prepare repatriation camps along the eastern side of the Gaza Strip to be ready for the resumption of demonstrations,” the commission said in a statement.
“This demonstration occurred as a result of the increasingly stringent Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.
At the same time, the commission said, “The mediators were unable to encourage Israel to ease the siege and comply with previous agreements.”
The Great March of Return began on 30 March 2018 to commemorate Palestinian Land Day, with five camps stationed along the eastern Gaza Strip.
A total of 305 Palestinians were killed and more than 31,000 others injured when Israeli occupation forces used “lethal force” against unarmed demonstrators.
