KYIV – Retired CIA analyst Larry Johnson warns President Volodymyr Zelensky of a potential coup by the Ukrainian military. The reason, because of the failure on the battlefield against the Russian troops.
“Zelensky is likely to be ousted via coup in the next three to four weeks, due to great discontent among troops on the eastern front,” Johnson told Redacted channel host Clayton Morris in an interview.
Russia claims that Ukraine’s major offensive in Zaporizhzhia, launched in early June with Western-trained troops and NATO-supplied tanks and armored vehicles, has failed to achieve a breakthrough anywhere.
Additional brigades, intended to exploit counteroffensives in other areas, were instead deployed to continue the offensive on the eastern front, to the point where the United States and its allies openly expressed their frustration with Ukraine’s tactics.
Johnson is not the first American analyst to speculate on a military coup against Zelensky.
Earlier this month, former US Marine officer Scott Ritter said the possibility of a military coup grew as each Ukrainian brigade crumbled.
“We may reach the Kerensky moment of 1917, when the military simply said ‘We are done,’” Ritter told channel MOATS host George Galloway.
He also brought up a recent Politico article explaining who would rule Ukraine if Russia killed Zelensky.
But according to Ritter, Moscow has no intention of going after Zelensky, as he may be replaced by someone more hardline.
