READING – Assistant coach of Ipswich Town, Martyn Pert delivers bad news about Elkan Baggott’s condition. Yes, he revealed that the Indonesian national team defender experienced cramps when appearing in the second round of the 2023/2024 English League Cup.
In that match, Ipswich Town won a 3-1 win over Reading FC via a penalty shootout. The match which took place at the Madejski Stadium, Reading, Wednesday (30/8/2023) WIB had to end with a penalty shootout, after the two teams drew 2-2 during normal time.
Elkan Baggott appeared the full 90 minutes to guard the Ipswich Town defense. The 20-year-old defender works hand in hand with George Edmundson and Dominic Ball as the team’s doorstop.
Unfortunately, Elkan Baggott ran into trouble at the end of the second half. Martyn Pert also revealed the condition of the player of Indonesian-English descent.
According to him, Elkan Baggott experienced cramps in the calf. However, he ensured that Elkan Baggott’s condition was fine. “The calves are just cramping,” said Martyn Pert as quoted from TWTD on Wednesday (30/8/2023).
“It was a bad cramp, but it’s just a cramp. It’s like someone shot him, right? But it’s a cramp and he’s fine,” he continued.
It is hoped that Elkan Baggott’s injury is not serious. The reason is, he is one of 27 players called up to strengthen the U-23 Indonesia National Team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
The U-23 Indonesian National Team is in Group K of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification with Taiwan and Turkmenistan. Garuda Muda will face Taiwan on September 9 and Turkmenistan on September 12 at the Manahan Stadium.
