PSKOV – Pskov Airport, Russian territory near NATO countries; Estonia and Latvia, were attacked by a swarm of Ukrainian drones on Wednesday (30/8/2023) in the morning.
The local governor, Mikhail Vedernikov, has confirmed the attack. Meanwhile, video taken near the site of the attack shows explosions and missiles from air defense systems lighting up the dark sky.
“The Russian military repelled a drone attack on Pskov airport,” Vedernikov said on Telegram, adding that he was at the scene from the start of the attack.
“Initial information says there were no casualties. We are working on assessing the property damage,” Vedernikov added.
Local emergency services told the TASS news agency that four Il-76 transport planes were damaged on the ground.
Russian authorities have closed the airspace in the area.
According to several Russian Telegram channels, more than a dozen drones have targeted the Pskov airport and air defenses attacked additional drones.
Videos posted on social media showed explosions accompanied by sounds of small arms fire.
