JAKARTA – Indonesian players achieved unsatisfactory results when they appeared at the 2023 BWF World Championships, after only bringing home one silver medal. Head of Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, will use this as a valuable lesson.
As is known, the Red and White Troops could not do much in the world arena. Only Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in the women’s doubles sector made it to the finals even though they only brought home a silver medal.
According to Rionny, the results achieved by his team did not match the targets set before the start of the competition. PBSI actually targets that at least Indonesia can bring home two titles from the tournament.
“In general, we failed to meet the target at the 2023 World Championships. Only Apri/Fadia in the women’s doubles advanced to the final. Meanwhile, other sectors failed to reach the target,” said Rionny in an official PBSI statement, Monday (28/8/2023 ).
“They have actually all performed optimally. However, it is not enough to deliver Indonesian players to continue to the final round to become champions,” he continued.

Failure to achieve the target and only bringing home a silver medal from the 2023 BWF World Championships which took place in Denmark made PBSI improve. Rionny said that in the future he would conduct more evaluations so he could achieve even better results.
“This failure must be an important lesson so that you will not fail again in important championships and other events in the future,” said Rionny.
“We must immediately prepare again to face the next championships,” he added.
