JAKARTA – Indonesian women’s doubles badminton player, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti won a silver medal at the 2023 BWF World Championships with her partner, Apriyani Rahayu. According to Fadia, he dedicated the runner-up title to his late grandfather who recently passed away.
Apriyani/Fadia failed to win in the final of the BWF World Championships 2023. They fell to the world number one pair from China, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan in the top match which took place at the Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Denmark, Sunday (27/8/ 2023) evening WIB. The pair that can be called Prifad lost two straight games 16-21, 12-21.
Although only being runner-up, of course this is one of the best achievements Fadia has ever had since being paired with Apriyani last year.
“I also dedicate this achievement to my grandfather who died before the Japan Open. Grandpa was really waiting for me to get on the podium. I dedicate this achievement to my grandfather in heaven,” said Fadia as quoted from the PBSI release, Sunday (27/8/2023).
Apriyani/Fadia themselves were the only Indonesian representatives to bring home medals from the 2023 BWF World Championships. In fact, even though they didn’t win, they made a good record.
The world’s 12th ranked pair is the first Indonesian women’s doubles to reach the final of the Badminton World Championships in the last 28 years. The last pair that was able to do this was Finarsih/Lili Tampi in 1995.
Meanwhile, the 2023 world champion title won by Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan made them the first women’s doubles in the world to be able to win four gold medals at the Badminton World Championships. In addition, they are the first women’s doubles duo to have won the world three times in a row.
