DAMASCUS – Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have demonstrated, in various provinces in Syria since last Friday (25/8/2023). They demand the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
According to the correspondent of the Aramme news agency, demonstrations broke out in cities and towns in northern Syria after Friday prayers.
Demonstrations were concentrated in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, particularly in the cities of Azaz, Al-Bab, Marea and Akhtarin.
Meanwhile, thousands demonstrated in the provinces of Sweida, Daraa and Deir Ezzor, to hold the Assad regime accountable.
Demonstrators in Sweida waved the flag of the Syrian revolution, and shouted slogans calling for the overthrow of the regime, freedom and dignity.
Previously, the Syrian National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces expressed its full support for the uprising of the people in Syria, for the people of Jaramana in Damascus, in southern Syria in Daraa and in Sweida, as well as protests on the Syrian coast against the Assad regime.
The coalition stated that the people demand the overthrow of the Assad regime and stressed that the regime is the cause of the crisis in Syria and is responsible for the deterioration of living conditions and public services.
The coalition called on Arab and international media to focus on the popular uprisings in the south, to follow the events closely. They also conveyed the voices and demands of the people, especially when they staged demonstrations in areas controlled by the Assad regime.
The groups that are enemies of Assad urge all Syrians in all provinces of Syria to rise up against the Assad regime to rid Syria and the world of war criminals who committed thousands of crimes against civilians.
The coalition stressed the need for the liberated areas to support the uprising in the south, taking part in mass demonstrations to emphasize the common goal of overthrowing the Assad regime.
The report notes that Syria needs its entire people to achieve the Syrian people’s dream of freedom, justice and dignity, for which the Assad regime has no place.
