ATLANTA – Former United States (US) President Donald Trump has turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail, in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday local time.
He is facing criminal prosecution on charges of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The billionaire-turned-politician was charged, arrested, and then quickly released thanks to a bail agreement previously obtained by his attorney.
Trump has agreed to bail of $200,000 as well as other conditions, including not using social media to target defendants and witnesses in the case.
After leaving prison, Trump again dismissed the charges as a “travesty of justice”.
Meanwhile, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office released a photo of the former president.
Fulton district attorney Fani Willis opened 41 charges against the former president and 18 of his associates earlier this month.
Several other defendants have been jailed, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani who turned himself in Wednesday.
Trump is currently facing racketeering and other felony charges in the Fulton County, Georgia case.
