Thai golfer Jakraphan Premsirigorn showed his best performance when leading on the first day of the BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament 2023 golf tournament at Damai Indah Golf – BSD Course, Banten, Wednesday (23/8). The Thai golfer scored 64 strokes or 8 under par.
”I posted 8 under, 8 birdies without bogey. It’s the perfect loop for me. My approach shot was also very good, hitting 18 greens in regulation all round this time and executing the game plan I laid out before coming here. I didn’t think about the score at all, I just focused on taking shot after punch, that’s all,” said Jakraphan.
Compatriot Newport Laparojkit and Korean golfer Yang Min-hyeok took second place by one stroke.
Danny Chia (Malaysia) occupies the T4 position along with Parathakorn Suyasri, Sarun Sirithon (Thailand), Ho Yu-Cheng (Taipei), and Udayan Mane (India). They each scored 66 strokes or 6 under par.
Danny Masrin is an Indonesian golfer who scored the best result, which is in the T10 position along with six other players. He scored 67 strokes or 5 under par. Today’s pin locations are many that I have never seen compared to previous years. Many pin positions that are in the middle of the green are quite easy. For par 3 and 4 there are heavy ones. My strategy for playing on the BSD course is to try to make par on the par 3 and 5 holes,” said Danny.
George Thacker, a golfer from England scored a hole in one on the 3rd hole. ”I got the order of hitting third. You could say my hitting was part of the effort of my playing partners. They both used 8-irons and their balls landed on the green. I estimated the pin position to be about 12 steps from their ball, so I used a 7-iron and hit a bit slower. It turned out to be the perfect decision. The ball landed one meter before the hole, then bounced once and entered the hole,” explained George. It’s not his first hole. George has scored a total of four holes in one.
BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament is a four-day tournament that international golfers have been waiting for. The tournament, which has been held since 2014, was absent in 2020-2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since its inception, Damai Indah Golf – BSD Course has always been the host. This year, the amount awarded increased from USD 110,000 to USD 125,000.

In this tournament the Ciputra Golfpreneur Foundation fielded its mentored golfers, namely Peter Gunawan, Kevin Caesario Akbar, Fadhli Soetarso, and Joshua Andrew Wirawan, as well as Markus Maximus Soenarjo (amateur). The best result was scored by Peter in the T52 position with 71 strokes or 1 under par.
Kevin on the first day could not play optimally on the first day due to his unfavorable health condition. He scored 74 strokes or 2 over par. Last week, Kevin just won his first title as a professional golfer by winning The Indonesia Pro-Am presented by Combiphar & and Nomura which is also an Asian Development Tour tournament.
”In my opinion the green is a bit firmer, more slippery because it rarely rains, so rolling the ball has to be approximated before going to the green. My condition today is not good because of the flu and my head is also heavy. I’m trying to finish the match and be able to rest so tomorrow’s condition will be better,” said Kevin.
