In an attempt to save a dog, two women appear to have drowned in a stream of glacial water in Sondrio, Italy.
The media reports that the women dived into the Fellaria stream, in upper Valmalenco, but are suspected to have been swept away by the currents.
They dived under a bridge to try to get the dog out of the water, but it didn’t do well with the rushing waters of the stream.
The emergency services were alerted to their disappearance by some climbers who were with them on an excursion to the high mountains in the Lanzada area.
Several rescue teams from Sagf-Mountain Rescue, firefighters and mountain rescue volunteers are searching for the two missing women, but there are strong doubts that they are dead.
