PSM Makassar coach, Bernardo Tavares, said his team would perform optimally against Yangon United in the 2023 AFC Cup playoffs. Moreover, Yangon United has good players and will be difficult to beat.
PSM Makassar’s match against Yangon United took place at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Wednesday (23/8/2023) evening WIB. In the match, the two teams will aim to win in order to get a ticket to the 2023 AFC Cup group phase.
Facing Yangon United, Bernardo Tavares admitted that PSM Makassar did not have much rest time after competing in the 2023/2024 League 1. This became an obstacle because they had to face one of the best Myanmar clubs with good players and coaches.
“We don’t have enough preparation and recovery when compared to our opponents, as we usually do in League 1, this is different. We will play against one of the best teams in Myanmar who have a lot of experienced players in the Myanmar National Team and also good foreign players , a trainer with experience requirements,” said Bernando Tavares in a press conference, Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
The Portuguese coach also said that the match would be difficult, because Yangon United had come to win. This will make PSM Makassar perform optimally.
“We don’t want to lose, we always prepare ourselves to try to win, whether it’s a full team or not, for sure 11 players will give everything in tomorrow’s match, and also the substitutes who come from the bench will give everything, we will try, ” he explained.
PSM Makassar is expected to qualify for the 2023 AFC Cup group phase alongside Bali United. Serdadu Tridatu -nicknamed Bali United – confirmed to appear in Asia’s second caste competition, after losing 1-5 to Lee Man in the 2023-2024 Asian Champions League Qualification.
