History and Capacity of Royal Arena Copenhagen: Venue of BWF World Cup Championship 2023
COPENHAGEN – Royal Arena Copenhagen, Denmark has been selected as the venue for the 2023 BWF World Cup Championship. Given its history, this multi-purpose building located in Copenhagen has been open since 2017, making it relatively new.
Royal Arena Copenhagen, located in the Danish capital, will be the meeting place for the world’s best badminton athletes from 21 August 2023 to 27 August 2023.
It is very interesting to understand the history and how magnificent this sports facility in Denmark is, so it was chosen as the venue for the 2023 BWF World Cup Championship.
History and Capacity of the Royal Arena Copenhagen
Interest in having a modern arena in Copenhagen has been around for decades. However, this project began to be taken seriously in 2011. The announcement that the Royal Arena would be built in Orestad, a region in Copenhagen, only occurred in 2013.
Realdania and the Municipal Government of Copenhagen contributed DKK 325 million each to the project, while the Elite Facilities Committee contributed in terms of construction and operations.
Of the five companies that submitted bids to become arena operators, Live Nation was selected to run this massive project.
Construction began in 2013, and on 3 February 2017, the Royal Arena Copenhagen was officially inaugurated. A number of world superstars such as Metallica and The Weeknd took part in the celebration of the opening of this multi-purpose arena.
Not only that, the Royal Arena also hosts various major events, including concerts by well-known artists such as Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and The Rolling Stones.
At its core, the Royal Arena is designed to be the venue for a variety of events, including music concerts, sporting events and other entertainment events.
With a modern design that incorporates the latest technology and facilities, the arena has a roof that can be opened and closed, allowing events to be held indoors unaffected by the weather. Other facilities include a restaurant, bar and area for other events.
The Royal Arena has become a significant addition to Copenhagen’s entertainment infrastructure, including in terms of sporting events.
With its capacity of up to 16,000 spectators, as well as the modern facilities it offers, Royal Arena has brought international events to the city and has become one of the premier destinations for entertainment and performances.
