Georgia, AS —
John Eastman turned himself in to authorities Tuesday (22/8), in a case in the state of Georgia over allegations of illegal plotting to undo Trump’s 2020 election loss. He is a conservative lawyer pushing for Donald Trump’s plan to stay in power.
Eastman was sent to the Fulton County Jail. He is expected to face charges in the coming weeks.
Last week, Eastman was found guilty along with Trump and 17 others. County Attorney Fani Willis accused them of carrying out a cunning plot to counteract the wishes of Georgia voters in a desperate attempt to prevent Joe Biden from occupying the White House. This is the fourth criminal case filed against the former Republican president.
Bail to keep him free Monday was set at $200,000. Trump said he would turn himself in to authorities in Fulton County on Thursday. In setting bail, it said Trump was prohibited from intimidating co-defendants, witnesses or victims in the case, including on social media. He once attacked prosecutors who led the cases against him, including Willis.
Eastman spoke to reporters outside the Fulton County Jail. He stated, “I am sure that if the law is upheld in this trial, I and all the accused will be fully acquitted.” (s/f)
