Donald Trump confirms that he will not participate in the Republican presidential debates with his rivals in the race for the White House.
The former president said a recent poll showed he had “legendary” numbers ahead of other candidates to be the old party’s candidate for the 2024 election.
“The public knows who I am and what a successful presidency I’ve had,” Trump wrote in a post on his social network.
The first Republican presidential debate will be held on August 23. And then there will be others. Voting for the primary election within the Republican party begins in the state of Iowa on January 15, 2024.
Polls have consistently shown Trump, who faces a string of criminal charges, as the favorite to win the Republican nomination.
The former American president has called the legal proceedings brought against him a “witch hunt”, according to him, with the aim of hindering his candidacy.
