A year after passing the anti-inflation law, President Joe Biden went to Wisconsin to talk about the success of his economic policies. But despite legislative victories and improving economic indicators, support for President Biden in polls related to his economic policies continues to be low.
Prices are still high in US supermarkets, but inflation is lower than last year. Unemployment is at a low of 3.5 percent and wages are rising.
President Joe Biden says the improvements have come as a result of his economic policies.
“We have the strongest economy in the world. Workplace satisfaction has reached a 36-year high. We have the lowest level of inflation compared to other major economies in the world.”
However, most Americans simply do not see this. According to the latest poll by the Ipsos organization, 56 percent of Americans do not support the way President Biden has handled the economy.
69 percent, including more than half of Democrats, say the economy is in worse shape than five years ago.
“The president is not really able to clearly communicate to the people some major legislative victories, like the inflation reduction law. There is a disconnect here,” says Mallory Newall of the Ipsos organization.
Surveys show that most Americans are not aware of the various laws aimed at improving the economy, which President Biden has signed. But they are aware of the high inflation they have experienced for more than a year, an issue they say is more pressing for the country.
Despite President Biden’s travels to highlight the success of his economic policies, what matters most to Americans is how much they pay for the items they buy.
