Israel, Thursday (17/8), said the United States (US) gave approval for the sale of the Arrow 3 hypersonic missile defense system to Germany.
Israel’s Defense Ministry said the $3.5 billion deal was the largest defense transaction in the country’s history.
The US and Israel jointly developed the Arrow 3 system, which can intercept high-air ballistic missiles.
The Israeli ministry said it hoped Israel and Germany would sign a final contract for the deal by the end of this year. whereas Germany has said it anticipates receiving the system by the end of 2025.
Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant said on social media platform X, originally known as Twitter, that the US approval of the deal “is an expression of confidence in Israel’s capabilities, and reflects the strong defense relationship between our countries.” (uh/ab)
