MANCHESTER – Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, said that he had predicted his brilliant appearance with The Citizens, nicknamed Manchester City. However, Haaland admits he never thought he would score 52 goals in his first season.
Haaland joined Manchester City in the 2022 summer transfer market. The Norwegian player was brought in by The Citizens from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer fee of £85.5 million or around Rp.1.5 trillion, including other fees.
Manchester City also gave Haaland a long-term contract until June 2027. This large-value contract immediately had a significant impact on Manchester City. Currently, Haaland has scored 52 goals in all competitions.
Since joining, Haaland expressed his belief that he would perform brilliantly with Josep ‘Pep’ Guardiola’s troops. However, he admits that he never expected to score so many goals.
“There’s no doubt. I know that I’m going to do well and play in a good team, so there’s no doubt. But I never expected to score this many (52 goals), to be honest. Even so, I still hope to keep scoring. goals,” Haaland said as quoted by Goal International, Friday (26/5/2023).
Haaland also admitted that the competition in the Premier League was indeed very tough. However, the 22-year-old player stated that he really enjoyed playing for Manchester City, especially in the Premier League competition.
“I understand why people say this is the best league, because it is. I enjoy it, I love playing here. I enjoy the competition, the runs and everything. I really enjoy it,” he added.
