BARCELONA – Moto3 Champion, Izan Guevara admitted that he did not want to rush to promotion to MotoGP. He said he would appear in the main class when he was ready.
Guevara performed well with the GasGas Aspar Team by winning the Moto3 2022 title. The Spaniard collected 319 points and got seven wins and 12 podiums.
His good performance made the General Manager of Ducati Corse, Gigi Dall’Igna interested in taking him to MotoGP.
In fact, Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo’s father, Chicho Lorenzo, called Guevara the future star of MotoGP.
However, Guevara admitted that he did not want to rush his promotion to MotoGP. Even though he realized that many teams were interested in recruiting him, he explained that he had to be prepared first.
“There is no rush to get to MotoGP. I have to be ready, I know there is already interest but we have to focus on the next step ahead of us now,” said Guevara as quoted from Crash.
The 18-year-old racer explained that appearing with the GasGas Aspar Team in Moto2 2023 allowed him to gain experience.
Guevara explained that in his first season in Moto3 he could adapt quickly. However, in Moto2 will try to get the title of the best rookie.
“Obviously I’m facing a move. It will be another year of studying again,” he said.
“In my first year in Moto3, I adapted quickly and won. It will be great to do this again with the front group and aim for the podium and try to be the best rookie.”
