BIRMINGHAM – Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan have stepped into the All England 2023 final. The Indonesian men’s doubles have the chance to win their third title in this badminton tournament.
Ahsan/Hendra are back at the top of the big tournament. This was after The Daddies beat the pair from China, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang in the 2023 All England semifinals.
The veteran pair advanced to the final after winning 21-15, 19-21, 29-27 at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England, Saturday (18/3/2023). This ensured that Indonesia won the men’s doubles.
This is the third final for Ahsan/Hendra in a prestigious tournament in the last few months. Previously it happened at the 2022 World Championships and the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals.
Unfortunately, Ahsan/Hendra failed to win in the two finals. At the 2022 World Championships in August in Tokyo, they lost to Malaysian representatives, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik 19-21, 14-21.
After that, they failed again in the top party of the BWF World Tour Finals. Ahsan/Hendra had to submit to Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi 17-21, 21-19, 19-21.
“(We) want it to be stable in every tournament, maybe the results in big tournaments will have better results,” said Ahsan.
In the final match of All England 2023, Ahsan/Hendra will face Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. It means, this will be the All Indonesian Final.
“We really want to enjoy playing now. However, we still have responsibilities,” he continued from the PBSI release.
If you win, it will be Ahsan / Hendra’s third title at the All England. They had dominated the 2014 and 2019 editions.
As for Fajar/Rian, they will win their first title in this event if they are able to tackle their seniors.
