ROME – Lazio successfully won the 2022-2023 Italian League continuation match against AS Roma. Competed at the Olimpico Stadium, Monday (3/20/2023), the white and sky blue eagle talons successfully tore apart the Capital City Wolves with a score of 1-0.
The Derby della Capitale match took place with high tension. In the first half alone, referee Davide Massa was forced to issue three yellow cards and one red card.
Roger Ibanez received the red card. Roma players had to be sent off by the referee after receiving two yellow cards.
Ibanez received a second yellow card after a sharp foul on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Superior in the number of players, Lazio is increasingly free to dominate the game.
It was noted that Lazio excelled in ball possession with a percentage of 63 percent to 37 percent. Even so, the hosts failed to score in the first half.
In the second half, Lazio still dominated the match. However, the hosts were only able to make tens of thousands of supporters cheer after Mattia Zaccagni scored after taking advantage of a mistake by defender Nicola Zalewski in the 65th minute.
Two minutes later, Rome’s goal vibrated again through the action of Nicolo Casale. However, the referee annulled the goal because the Lazio players were already in an offside position.
The minutes of the match continued, but until the long whistle sounded the score 1-0 for Lazio’s victory did not change. These three additional points were enough to elevate the Eagles to second place with a value of 52 points or 19 points behind Napoli as the ruler of the Italian League standings. Meanwhile, Roma remained in fifth place with 47 points.
