BIRMINGHAM – Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto successfully won the gold medal at the All England 2023 after defeating Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan through a fierce battle 21-17, 21-14 at Utilita Arena Birmingham, Sunday (19/3/2023). This is Fajri’s first title in the oldest badminton tournament in the world.
Fajar/Rian’s victory at the All England 2023 also saved Indonesia’s face. The reason is, this is the only title that the Red and White badminton team has won from the men’s doubles sector.
While China and Korea managed to bring home two titles. China brought home the title from the mixed doubles sector through Zheng Si Wei/Hang Ya Qiong.
In the final match, Zheng Si Wei/Hang Ya Qiong won over the Korean representative through a fierce rubber game battle 21-16, 16-21, 21-12. While one other title was obtained by China from the men’s singles sector.
Meanwhile, the two Korean titles were won by An Se Young (women’s singles) and Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong (women’s doubles). An Se Young has at least managed to maintain his record as the only player to reach the final of every BWF World Tour event so far in 2023.
Of the five BWF world tours, An Se Young has successfully won three championships and two runners up. With details, runner up at Malaysia Open 2023 (runner up), India Open 2023 (champion), Indonesia Masters 2023 (champion), German Open 2023 (runner up) and All England 2023 (champion).
