JAKARTA – PSSI plans to invite Argentina to a FIFA matchday against the Indonesian national team in June 2023. Does that mean Lionel Messi will come to Indonesia?

Deputy Chairman of PSSI Zainudin Amali responded to this. The former Menpora cannot confirm whether the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar will come to Indonesia or not.

Even if Argentina agrees to the invitation, it is likely that it will not be the senior national team that will challenge the Indonesian national team but another age group. So, there is no guarantee that the Argentina senior team inhabited by Lionel Messi will come.

“We don’t know yet, do we. It could be the U-23 team or the others, we don’t know yet,” said Zainudin Amali in Jakarta, Friday (17/3/2023).

The Golkar politician said that PSSI is indeed committed to finding the best opponents for the Indonesian National Team. The goal is for the team to get a lot of benefits on FIFA matchday.

“Pak Erick’s (Ketum PSSI) commitment will bring the best teams here. However, it depends on our readiness,” he said.

Currently, the Indonesian National Team is preparing to undergo a FIFA Matchday against Burundi. The games are scheduled to take place on March 25 and 28, 2023.
