WASHINGTON – Former United States (US) President Donald Trump said there was leaked information indicating he would be arrested on Tuesday next week.

Reports in local media suggest the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is preparing to issue charges over Trump’s alleged payment of bribes as a presidential candidate in 2016.

On Saturday (18/3/2023) morning, Trump posted about the possible charges on platform Truth Social, stating that he would be arrested next Tuesday.

“Now this illegal leak of the corrupt and highly political District Attorney’s Office of Manhattan, which allowed new records to be set in violent crimes and whose leader was funded by George Soros, shows that, with no proven crime, and based on an old fable and fully known (by many another claimant!), Republican candidate and former President of the United States, will be arrested next Tuesday. Protest, give back to our nation!” Trump wrote, as quoted by Fox News.

While Trump did not provide details on why he felt he might be charged, his legal team had anticipated that would happen soon and had been preparing behind the scenes for their next steps.

The former American president is expected to appear in Manhattan following a possible formal impeachment and has expressed interest in speaking afterwards.

Trump has complained privately that he believes he will only be indicted because he thinks Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg hates him. This was revealed by a source who knows what Trump said.

Some of Trump’s advisers have urged him privately not to call for protests, worried about the appearance of mass protests in the streets of Manhattan growing out of control or resembling the January 6, 2021 attacks on the US Capitol.
