Eating Too Much Salt

Reporting from The Korea Herald, South Koreans are known to often use salt in cooking in large quantities. Based on data from the World Action on Salt and Health, the average daily salt consumption for South Koreans in 2010 was 4.878 milligrams. This figure is 2.4 times higher than the WHO recommended daily salt intake, which is 2,000 milligrams per day.
Consuming excess salt is closely related to heart disease, kidney disease, and high blood pressure. Not only that, excess salt consumption can also increase the risk of stomach cancer and stroke.
