The Senior Indonesian National Team and the U-20 National Team Train Together in Jakarta

JAKARTA – The senior Indonesian national team and U-20 will train together in Jakarta. Both teams will be handled by Coach Shin Tae-yong and will be collected on March 20, 2023.

The senior Indonesian national team will play a FIFA matchday against Burundi on March 25 and 28 2023 at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi. Meanwhile, the U-20 Indonesian National Team continues preparations for the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

The U-20 Indonesian National Team was reunited after competing in the U-20 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan. The Garuda Nusantara squad failed to advance to the quarter-finals.

While the senior Indonesian National Team was gathered after the summons of 28 players for FIFA Matchday. Among the 28 players there are several new faces, one of which is Shayne Pattynama

PSSI Technical Director Indra Sjafri said the two Indonesian National Team groups would soon train together.

“Yes (joint training). It means that there will be two teams that the coaching team will handle later,” said Indra Sjafri in Jakarta, Thursday (16/3/2023). “The 20th has gathered (the senior Indonesian National Team and U-20),” added the man who is also the coach of the U-22 Indonesian National Team.

Meanwhile, regarding Marselino Ferdinan not being included in the Indonesian national team squad for the FIFA Matchday, Indra Sjafri said he deliberately did not call Marselino Ferdinan because the KMSK Deinze player was focused on the U-20 Indonesian National Team.

“Yes, we are considering it so that Marselino can focus on the 2023 U-20 World Cup,” said Indra Sjafri.

Later the U-20 National Team will undergo a training camp (TC) abroad. “The U-20 Indonesian National Team is preparing for TC to Korea. This is because they need to make a visa and they will practice for about ten days first,” he said.
