BIRMINGHAM – Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati advanced to the semifinals of the All England 2023. Indonesia’s mainstay mixed doubles eliminated the Japanese duo Kyohei Yamashita / Naru Shinoya in the quarter-finals at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, Friday (17/3/2023) WIB.

Rehan/Lisa had to work hard to defeat Yamashita/Shinoya through a long battle 21-19, 15-21 and 21-19 within 76 minutes. In the semifinals of the Super 1000 tournament, Rehan/Lisa will face the winner of the match between the first seeds from China, Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong, and Yuki Kaneko/Misaki Matsutomo from Japan.

Rehan/Lisa started the match badly after making consecutive mistakes at the start of the first game which left them trailing 1-4 and then 4-7.

After that, the world’s 15th ranked pair game began to develop. Slowly but surely cut the gap to 7-8 and even managed to turn around winning 11-10 in the first game interval.

After the break, long rallies colored the match. Rehan/Lisa and Yamashita/Shinoya demonstrated brilliant games at critical points to draw the score 19-19.

Rehan’s accurate hits allowed Merah-White to get two additional points to secure victory in the first game with a score of 21-19.
