MUNICH – Fate brought Bayern Munich versus Manchester City in the 2022/2023 Champions League quarter-finals. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann is haunted by the ferocity of The Citizens striker Erling Haaland.
In the quarter-final draw at Home of European Football, Nyon, Switzerland, Friday (17/3/2023), Bayern will meet Man City in the quarter-finals. Previously, the two teams had met six times, with a record of both packing three wins.
However, Bayern Munich and Manchester City previously only faced each other in the group phase. This duel became interesting because the loser had to lift his suitcase from the competition.
Both teams also have luxurious player material. Manchester City have goal machine Erling Haaland, who has recorded 39 goals and five assists from 35 games in all competitions.
Nagelsmann immediately highlighted the player from Norway. The coach with the German passport said that Haaland is a player who has physical strength and speed. Nagelsmann called Haaland more terrible than Kylian Mbappe.
“Haaland is an extraordinary player. He has extreme qualities in terms of speed and physique. He is more physical than (Kylian) Mbappe,” said Nagelsmann quoted from the Twitter account @iMiaSanMia, Friday (17/3/2023).
Even so, Nagelsmann said Die Rotten – the nickname of Bayern Munich – also has player material that is no less quality. “But, we also have very good attacking players, (Manchester) City also has many other good players,” concluded the 35-year-old coach.
