NYON – Chelsea met a difficult opponent in the 2022/2023 Champions League quarter-finals. The draw results in Nyon, Switzerland, Friday (17/3/2023), brought the Blues together with defending champions Real Madrid
The European Football Federation (UEFA) held the draw at the Home of European Football, Nyon, Switzerland. The draw was made by two former footballers, Hamit Altintop and Patrick Kluivert.
Eight teams have made it through to the quarter-finals of the 2022/2023 Champions League, namely AC Milan (Italy), Bayern Munich (Germany), Benfica (Portugal), Chelsea (England), Inter Milan (Italy), Manchester City (England), Napoli (Italy) ), and Real Madrid (Spain).
Chelsea vs Madrid, both teams are in an unequal condition, where Chelsea is struggling in the 2022/2023 Premier League. In addition, AC Milan will meet Napoli, while Bayern Munich will clash with Manchester City.
AC Milan will face compatriot club Napoli. This will be interesting, considering that the two clubs have often met in the Italian League. Then, there is Inter Milan who will host Benfica.
The quarter-finals take place over two legs. The format for home and away matches will be held on April 11-12 (first leg), and April 16-19 (second leg).
