TAVULLIA – Director of Mooney VR46 Racing Team, Alessio Salucci responded to rumors of Yamaha’s interest in his team. However, he explained that Valentino Rossi’s team was only interested in joining a team that had a competitive motorbike.
It is certain that Yamaha will only field Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli in MotoGP 2023. The team with the Tala Fork logo does not have a satellite team, after the RNF decided to join Aprilia.
Nevertheless, Yamaha has a desire to make the Mooney VR46 Racing Team a satellite team. Moreover, Valentino Rossi has a good relationship with Yamaha, so he has an advantage.
Alessio Salucci acknowledged that it was an honor for Yamaha to want the Mooney VR46 Racing Team to be part of the Japanese manufacturer. But right now they still have a contract with Ducati until 2024 and have to respect it.
“For us, it is a great honor that Yamaha wants to have us and we are very happy. But we have a contract with Ducati until the end of next year and we will respect it,” said Alessio Salucci quoted from Crash, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
Meanwhile, Alessio Salucci admits that he does not rule out the possibility of Mooney VR46 Racing Team joining Yamaha, but is more interested in a team that has a competitive motorbike. He explained that if Yamaha has a competitive motorbike after 2024, then it is possible that Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marin will be part of them.
“In the future, who knows? But we are interested in having a competitive bike. If Yamaha, after 2024, has a strong bike then we are open for anything,” he concluded.
